Advantages:

• Swellable Sealant is a one-component, gray, polyurethane-based, elastic, hydro-swelling mastic. It is supplied in cartridges and aluminum sausages and is designed for sealing expansion joints and pipe penetrations.
• Swellable Sealant cures and swells in the presence of moisture. The curing time depends on temperature and humidity conditions; higher relative humidity (RH) and temperature will shorten the curing time. The sealant typically becomes firm within 24 to 36 hours.
• Performance is not affected by curing time, ensuring reliable sealing even in varying conditions.

Application:

Swellable sealant should preferably be applied to a dust-free concrete surface. The surface may be rough or smooth, moist, or dry. For underwater or very wet applications, ensure that the concrete is cast within 6 hours after application to prevent premature swelling of the sealant.

1. Preparation of the Caulking Gun:

• Place the sausage into the empty tube of the caulking gun.
• Cut off 1 cm from the top of the sausage.
• Close the tube and install the nozzle.
• Cut the nozzle diagonally at the appropriate position for application.

2. Application:

• Apply Swellable sealant in an uninterrupted band with a minimum width and height of 10 mm, using the caulking gun.
• Place the mastic band in the middle of the joint or prefab element, ensuring a minimum concrete cover of 7 cm.

3. Fresh Concrete Application:

• Ensure the Swellable sealant is covered by at least 7 cm of concrete on both sides. This prevents cracking caused by the expansion pressure during the swelling process.
